Description and curator notes
This short devotional hymn appeals to Bhadrakālī as a refuge from the burning difficulties of worldly existence. Fierce divine imagery and mythic demon-conquest motifs accompany the speaker’s requests for help. Its eight-verse form makes it a useful entry point to the devotional vocabulary of Bhadrakālī, while comparison with the separately attributed Nārāyaṇa Guru aṣṭakam reveals that these are distinct compositions sharing a title.
