Description and curator notes

The museum describes a late nineteenth-century Kali print whose Bengali wording also invokes commercial products. The record therefore supports research on the contact between devotional imagery and advertising, rather than a simple division between sacred pictures and the marketplace. Complete object metadata accompanies the interpretive text. It is particularly useful for the library’s material on popular visual religion in colonial Bengal.
