Description and curator notes

This correspondence explains why a certified copy of the Kali temple’s endowment charter could not immediately be sent to the trust administration. The copperplate was kept in the palace treasury, which could be opened only during the principal autumn and spring festivals. The note reports the copying and certification process once access became possible. Its complete Nepali text and English translation give unusually concrete evidence for the relationship between ritual calendars, restricted archival access and nineteenth- or early-twentieth-century temple administration. Read together with the charter it accompanied, it helps distinguish a historical donation from the later documentary witness through which that donation is now studied. It is a separate letter about transmission, not a duplicate charter.

Curator source KALI-50B4-016. Historical ritual and temple document editions. Research supplement dated 5 November 2026.
Except where specific checks are described below, source access, completeness and scholarly or devotional assessments are supplied by the curator document, not a new independent verification by this library. Comparative goddess identities, healing claims and devotional interpretations are attributed, not established universal or clinical facts. Full source content is linked, not reproduced.

This is a separate legal/administrative act with its own Documenta Nepalica edition ID, not a duplicate merely for naming the same temple, ruler or musician. VS dates are retained as VS, not interpreted as CE; the date label distinguishes the original document, later copy and modern scholarly edition/revision where supplied.
