Description and curator notes
Dupuche uses comparative theology to read selected Marian passages through questions prompted by Kali’s iconography. After a compact account of Kali’s attributes, most of the article examines biblical texts and Christian interpretation. Its declared audience is primarily Christian, and its conclusion advances a theological comparison rather than establishing a historical relationship between Mary and Kali. The record is valuable for documenting contemporary interreligious reception and for showing how Kali’s apparently disturbing attributes can challenge another tradition’s assumptions about sacred femininity. The article’s brief historical account should not be treated as an independently demonstrated chronology of Kali’s origins, and its theological identifications must remain attributed to the author.
