Description and curator notes
Albedil examines Kali’s protruding tongue as a multivalent iconographic sign. She compares Bengali explanations of shame with interpretations involving transgression, sexuality, sacrificial blood and spiritual transformation, drawing on Sanskrit narratives, South Indian temple descriptions and Tantric scholarship. The conclusion stresses that one visual feature can communicate destruction, protection, creative power or liberation according to context. This complete Russian chapter, with English abstract and fourteen notes, enables comparison of competing explanations of a familiar image. It is not a critical edition or definitive chronology. Its broad claims about prehistoric mother-goddess continuity and textual dates require comparison with specialist research.
This record covers only the named chapter/article/royal-order translation, not the entire linked proceedings, journal issue or annual volume.
