Description and curator notes
French ethnographic study of the Black Virgin and Karli in Réunion, based on 1994–1999 fieldwork. It examines fertility-related vows, ritual offerings and connections between Catholic and Tamil Hindu practices. Reported beliefs about fertility are ethnographic evidence, not evidence of medical efficacy.
Curator supplement exported 8 November 2026, collecting sources found 5–7 November. Publication dates above date the cited works, not their discovery or repository upload. The complete-work language does not include languages used only for abstracts or summaries. Full-reading checks and their dates below are attributed to the supplied curator document; this intake does not claim to have repeated those external full-text checks.
